Munira is an Honours graduate in Forensic Sciences and is currently a freelancer and a researcher.       I do apologise for not getting back to you sooner (one year!!!). It’s my fault as I’ve not been maintaining this site well enough.

      To answer your question, it is unknown how long fingerprints can remain on a surface. This depends on many factors – such as the fragility of the type of evidence or whether the fingerprints will be left undisturbed or exposed to water. It has been noted that fingerprints can still be retrieved from well-preserved artifacts.
